College Information Night at the Depot

COLLEGE INFORMATION NIGHT FOR PARENTS AND TEENS

THURSDAY, MARCH 4 FROM 7-8:30PM

The college admissions process can be a daunting but exciting time for you and your family.  From college selection, to essay/resume building, to college visit planning, and interview strategies, the process can appear daunting and overwhelming.  It’s difficult to know where to start.

To address these issues, The Depot is hosting a free college information night, sponsored by Chyten Educational Services, on March 4, to de-mystify the process and answer your questions.  The session will be held from 7:00-8:30pm at The Depot.  Chyten’s college counselor will be there to answer your questions and provide insights into the process.  Topics to be discussed include:

• Creating the Perfect College List
• Managing College Visits
• Standardized tests:  SAT vs. ACT?
• Making the Interview Work
• The Application Process
• Essay Strategies
• Early Decision/Early Action

2nd ANNUAL SPELLING BEE

Can Team Board of Finance repeat??  The 2nd annual Spelling Bee will be held at Town Hall Auditorium on Sunday, March 21st.  Entry Forms and opportunities to sponsor teams will be available at the Depot beginning the week of February 8, 2010.

WHAT DOES BAND NIGHT LOOK LIKE?

Band Nights are popular nights at the Depot … and they are a great way to showcase our enormously talented teens.  Here are some shots from the Friday, January 29th Band Night.

Girls Night Out Begins on Monday, Feb 1st

Calling all girls!!  Girls Night Out begins this Monday!  It will be held the first Monday of each month from 7-9pm.  Plans include self-defense class. a stress relief class and of course a pizza party!!  There is no charge for this program but space is limited.  Please call Janice at 655-0812 or email her at depotct@optonline.net  and reserve a spot for yourself or your teen.

WE LOVE OUR STUDENT GOVERNING BOARD!!  And we are very appreciative - in advance - of all the hours they will log in the next couple of weeks wrapping gifts at the DEPOT Wrap-Up.  Thank you SGB! 

If your son or daughter is interested in being considered for the SGB for the 2010/2011 school year, applications will be available in May.  All applications are reviewed and acceptances are mailed in June for positions on the Board for the following year.  For 8th graders, the applications will be available at the Message Center in May … you will be reminded via the MPN.
